Islamabad, Pakistan – Former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has strongly criticized the government for its failure to control rising electricity prices, which have placed an additional burden on already struggling consumers.
Speaking at a press conference, Ismail stated that the government’s inability to manage the energy sector has resulted in exorbitant electricity prices, making it difficult for people to make ends meet.
He pointed out that the government’s decision to increase electricity tariffs has led to a significant rise in the cost of living, affecting low-income households the most.
Ismail also criticized the government’s lack of investment in renewable energy sources, which he believes could have helped reduce the country’s reliance on expensive imported fuels.
He urged the government to take immediate action to address the issue of high electricity prices and to develop a comprehensive plan to promote renewable energy sources.
The criticism comes as consumers across Pakistan continue to struggle with high electricity bills, which have become a major source of concern for many households and businesses.
